Frequently asked questions
- Who can use We Draft It?
- Lawyers (Class L1 or L2) and paralegals (Class P1) licensed by the Law Society of Ontario. Articling students use the platform under supervising-counsel accounts. Self-represented litigants are welcome on the self-serve forms; the counsel-block fields go unfilled.
- Do you give legal advice?
- No. We Draft It is a document-drafting platform. The licensee using the platform takes responsibility for the legal advice given to their client and for the filings made on the client's behalf.
- How does counsel-block auto-fill work?
- Fill the licensee profile once — name, LSO number, firm, firm address, phone, email, role. Every generated form inserts the right fields in the right places. Family Form 6C, RCP Form 16B.1, SCC Form 8B, Federal Form 146B and the POA Notice of Motion all draw from the same source.
- Is there a public API?
- Yes. POST to /api/v1/selfserve/generate/ with the form code and the data payload. Used by partner platforms (e.g. We Serve Papers integrates the Family 6B affidavit directly into its process-server workflow). Email us for API access.
- What courts and tribunals do you cover?
- Landlord and Tenant Board, Superior Court of Justice (civil, family, Divisional Court), Court of Appeal for Ontario, Ontario Court of Justice (criminal), Small Claims Court, Provincial Offences Court, and Federal Court of Canada.
- Do you do French-language forms?
- Bilingual ministry forms (POA Form 7, POA 0006 CSD, POA 0831) auto-fill in both English and French. We Draft It's service interface is currently English; French support is planned for 2026.
- What about confidentiality?
- Client data submitted through the self-serve forms is stored only as long as needed to generate the PDF and deliver it to the licensee. Job-assigned drafter work is covered by an NDA with the assigned drafter.
